** The Restaurant **
'Tom Yum Kung', the Thai restaurant, is tucked at the end of a short soi, off Khao San Road. The restaurant, or more aptly an eating place, is in reality set at the courtyard of an old bungalow which now houses 'true Cafe'.
We have to navigate through a cramped alley before reaching this part of the soi. Their neon signboard. Courtyard view ... Another courtyard view ...

** Our Order **
We have the BBQ chicken wings (THB115) as our finger foods while waiting for dinner to be served. The evenly tanned wings, believed to be honey glazed, are finger-licking good. [Recommended]
It tastes as good as it looks!

The stir-fried veg (THB138) with garlic is acceptable. The thing that bugs me is it costs the same as the tom Yum goong but even cheaper than a serving of chicken wings!
I love greens :)

The Pla Rad Prik (Lit: Chillies covered fish) (THB240) is passable but there's really nothing to write home about.
The deep-fried fish is just so-so.

At a mere THB138, the Tom Yum Goong is definitely the highlight of night. Not only the shrimps are fresh, the soup prepared with generous amount of herbal leaves has a perfect balance of sour and spiciness. [Recommended]
The sizzling hot tom yum goong. Fresh shrimps.

Table for 2: The dinner for two set us back only THB771 (~SGD34). The price includes non-alcoholic drinks and tax.

My verdict:
+ Courtyard dining
+ Fresh & savory tom yum goong
+ Cheap eat
- Limited food selection

** Getting there **

It's at Khao San Road. Everyone knows the place. Just ask around when you are there.

About THAIoholic

THAIoholic, the blog, is setup with the initial intention of keepsake. As time goes by, I find it harder and harder for my gray cells (of what left) to remember traces of great places we have been to, good foods we savored but missed, details that I should remember but they slipped away unknowingly.

Then, we have also friends and folks asking little details I thought I should blog them here, because my pea brain is simply no good at recollections.

My partner is a devoted Buddhist, his religion forbids him, and therefore me, from taking beef. As such, it's unlikely that there will be any info about beef dish found in this blog.

About BODYholic

moo and kratai BODYholic, also known affectionately as moo ooan (a.k.a fat pig) by his little kratai noi (a.k.a little rabbit), has intense interests in Thai foods, traditional Thai architecture, coffee and cheesecakes. I've to add that I'm not a prolific blogger.
